LHONG1919 Welcome back to Meijiwanders channel we are wandering around LHONG1919 in Bangkok today since this week is the Chinese New Year week so are we going to explore this placethat is very rich in culture between Thai and Chinese and it started sincemid 19th centuries so we're gonna see all these arts too.

Let's go! We are taking a free boat across the river It locates on the bank of the river, on Thonburi side To Iconsiam first and we're gonna take another one, the blue flag boat to LHONG1919 so if you are coming from Rattanakosinisland side or from the city side there is so much to explore on this area which is called the road of dragons that includes the Chinatown also.

It's not that difficult to get to LHONG1919 at all first you gotta take this free boatacross the river to the new shopping center Iconsiam from Sri Phraya pierand the trip takes only about like five minutes or so and once you get to Iconsiam, you ask them of the blue flag boat which we also call Hop On and Hope Off boat tour.

You can also get like a daily ticket as there are multiple stops along the way and this is how to blue flag boat lookslike inside and just one stop from Iconsiam then we would have arrived atLHONG1919 so this community center is opened everyday you can tell explore whenever you like but before 8 p.

at night and themain part of the community is its shrine called Mazu shrine.

And did you know that the largest overseas Chinese population is here in Thailand so this is where it all began this pier was originally it was a old boat pier it was like a steamboatship that was built in a King Rama IV and every Chinese that migrated toThailand had to come to this pier and get the registration so there was such a big Chinese community around this area This Mazu Shrine wasoriginally brought from China you can make a merit or to pray tothem normally back then the fishermen would come to you to pray to the Mazushrine before they go on a trip for safe journey and a good fortune wooden figures of Mazu shrine areupstairs but there are also the painting ones downstairs for you to make amerit or during the busy time so there are three wooden figures here the middleone is Mazu goddess to give blessing and good fortune and then the girl who predicts the weather and safe journey and the last one Empress of heaven isshe brings kindness and compassion this area is the the area to pray to theMazu goddess or the ground floor and over here you can also do these herewe call them Kau Cim or Seamsi in Thai so you're meant to shake them whilepraying to the goddess until one of the numbers drop out of the bamboo tube and then you come to pick up your fortune from the numbered pigeonholes here andthen if it is a good fortune then you take it home, it is not then you leave it there so the place was also decorated similarto this all year round but probably more ornamental during this Chinese New Yeartime.

So they kept the original structure of the building which the main parts are teak, plaster and bricks the original ones are still in placed.

All these wall murals are new but the one inside are almost untouched they kept all the original, only touched up on a bit of the colors another significant thing of LHONG1919if their Chinese architectural style or they call themSAN HE YUAN which is the three building surrounding the courtyard as you can seehere.

They follow the teaching of feng shui and on the upstairs you can see theiroriginal Chinese style rooms like this one is the bedroom or this one thedining room and this one is the working room let's go talk to one of theirlocal shopkeepers This place is like our museum for people to come visit and learn of our brand history This is the refined Agarwood oil used as medicine for diarrhea It was used widely in every family by the mothers on their children since when they were young “How to eat this one?” “You break the bar off and eat a little bit” These are the medicine brand ads back in the old days that was used on the streets and also in cinemas This man was the founder and he started of as a normal shop before turning into producing medicine so this place belongs to one of the veryold Chinese that moved to Thailand and he invented one of very popular medicineand his company still exists today and so this place is more like a museum for new people to come and learn of the old way of Chinese medicine Another exciting thing today is thatwe will have two guests from overseas yes and I waited them a few hours and they were still not there.
